 Two Nordhavn 55s cross Pacific
from Mexico to Taiohae Bay in the Marquesas
The Allards anchored off Suwarrow (above), after a chance meeting leads to a tag-team voyage covering 2,700 miles in just over two weeks for one unforgettable journey.
This is what being part of the Nordhavn club is all about.
The idea was simple: Meet up in
Mexico and cross the Pacific
Ocean together -
a perfect trip for
stretching the legs of a cou-
ple of new Nordhavn 55s.
The plan was hatched when
N5525 owner Roger Allard
and the N5527 owner’s
bumped into each other at
the Nordhavn factory. “I met
them at the boatyard in
China while our boats were
being built,” Allard said.
“We talked about doing the
Pacific crossing at the same
time if things worked out -
and luckily they did.”
positions, currents data, sea states and
weather conditions - and to ensure
everything was fine on both ends. It's
amazing
how much
conditions
can vary
100 miles
apart at
sea - even
40 or 50
miles can
make a
huge dif-
ference.”
Safe long range ocean travel is
what Nordhavns are built for.
